Company History  

1884  

Established in London as Johnsen & Jorgensen, importing Polar Bear skins and Cod liver oil.

1898  

Purchased H Potts & Co. import agents for medical and pharmaceutical bottles.

1900  

Partnership changed into a private limited company.

1921  

Commercial manufacture of machine-made glass vials and ampoules.   Trade mark "Trident".

1954  

Developed the first easy open ampoule.  Trade mark "Snapule".

1963  

Produced the first commercially successful plastic tamper evident closure, the "Jaycap".

1968  

Joint venture with the West Company and Pharma Gummi to form a company to produce pharmaceutical and medical rubber components.

1968  

Designed, developed and manufactured the first successful all plastic container and closure.  The "Securitainer".

1976  

Built first clean room for assembly of pharmaceutical and medical devices.

1983  

Johnsen & Jorgensen Packaging Limited became a public company.

1990  

 Purchased by John Waddington PLC relocated to Newcastle upon Tyne and changed company name to "Jaycare Ltd".

1997  

New company headquarters and manufacturing facility, including Class 10,000 Clean Room built in Newcastle on green field.

2000  

Acquired by FTSE 100 top financial institution 3i plc.

2004  

Strategically acquired by Phoenix Equity Partners to spearhead organic growth in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare markets.
